Instructor Led Training & Experiential Learning
I have more than 15 years of experience developing and (at times) delivering ILT and VILT presentations for a variety of audiences. Here are a few examples of my work in this area.
ILT - Executive MBA Student Presentation
The Executive MBA program at Boise State University asked me to present to their 2019 cohort on the topic of executive branding and hiring. I created a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation covering the topics of: personal brand development, role targeting, resume design, resume writing, applicant tracking systems, human screening, LinkedIn profile development, and executive-level interviewing. I delivered the presentation on-campus to a classroom of about 30 executive leaders. To expand the learning experience, we had breakout rooms and dug deeper into these topics with folks who were interested.
Here are a few slides from the presentation.
ILT - Facilitator Guide
I prepared this Facilitator’s Guide using Gagne’s Nine Events of Learning. The document guides an instructor through the various preparation and facilitation activities for a breakout sessions at a national conference. The topic is “Using AI to Elevate Your Resume Services”. Below is a link to the entire PDF guide file.
vILT - Technology Implementation Training
Albertsons Corporate Headquarters was rolling out a new web based application (Unicru Salaried Solution) to assist in divisional recruitment and hiring. I was selected to lead the training project related to this implementation. This involved the design and development of a VILT training program for HR leadership across nationwide divisions and distribution centers. I managed the project from concept to C-level approval (in a Fortune 50 company) and then delivered the presentation myself online using an (at the time) cutting edge facilitation tool.
Experiential Learning - Recruiting Summit
Albertsons HQ hired an executive from Microsoft who completely rebuilt and modernized their talent management function. I was the only employee from the previous team who was retained and enlisted to help in this endeavor. A key element of our success was the production of a corporate-wide recruiting summit (a collaborative problem-solving experience). This multi-day event tackled the issues of the company’s previous recruiting process by having stakeholders (e.g., hiring managers, recruiters, HR managers, compensation team members) participate in several activities. These included: pre-summit questionnaires, quantitative and qualitative feedback analysis, individual and group ideation sessions, collaborative process design, mind mapping, and breakout groups. Stakeholders left the event with a greater understanding of recruiting objectives, constraints, influences, and best practices. The experience generated incredible buy-in for a new hiring process, since all of the key players had contributed to its development. Additionally, many potential problems were averted by encouraging issue identification and resolution within the design phase.
